Mississauga Yoga – What is yoga?

Mississauga yoga here at Bikram Yoga Mississauga provides an excellent platform upon which any individual can improve their overall health as well as their fitness. In order to better understand Bikram Yoga and our Mississauga yoga practices, let’s first indulge into Bikram Choudry’s Bikram Yoga book which talks about what yoga is.

So what is yoga?

Coming from the ancient root language of Sanskrit which comes through Indian philosophy, the word yuj implies “to join”. Essentially, the word “yoga” which stems from the term yuj, encompasses the art of linking or marrying your soul with your body. Here at Bikram Yoga Mississauga, it is very important to connect your mind to your body to allow ultimate calmness which will help decrease blood pressure and relieve stress.

Yoga seeks to help each individual get to their ultimate destination. Basically, it is the science of living life correctly so we’re able to reach such a point. This ‘ultimate destination’ does not have to weigh in on religious or monetary achievements. Our Mississauga Yoga is focused on helping everyone reach their ultimate destination through Bikram Yoga whether it is increasing fitness, or reducing stress.

Interesting Fact:

As yogis of India have spent over 5,000 years trying to perfect and improve upon yoga techniques and practices, one interesting fact comes through doing the Lotus Pose. When the blood is impeded from getting through your body below your waist, it is essentially as a door has been closed. This action services as a natural local anesthesia which in fact dulls some or all of the pain receptors.  What does that do? Well, aches in your lower body then stop wanting your attention which allows you to have a calm peace of mind.

Yoga in your local Mississauga area offers excellent modes of allowing your body to be in a calm and relaxed state. After a hard day’s work, or going through a stressful time, it is extremely helpful to put your mind in a calm state and let your worries temporarily relieve you. One great example of this comes from the Indian yogis who had learned that by conducting the initial 14 poses, they had experienced great distraction from their body as it had been aching or in pain. In order to prevent this disruption from their meditation, they would conduct the lotus pose.
